AGRESSIVE TREE CUTTERS...

AGRESSIVE TREE CUTTERS - please beware. I live on Huddleston Road and all I can hear right now is the sound of "Tree Care" tree company cutting trees down. They have been posting flyers through doors and ringing doorbells asking if people want any "tree work doing".

If a tree is in someone's private property then that's their business (unless in a conservation area). But trees growing out of the pavement (even if branches go into someone's private property) are NOT allowed to be cut in at all by this company.

It's really upsetting that they might be taking advantage of people's ignorance by cutting down trees that are for everyone and make Tufnell park the lovely leafy place that it is.

I have just challenged them over a street tree they were pointing at with a lady whose doorbell they had just rung. I know I am making a judgement and I accept that I might have misinterpreted what I just saw. But it seemed to me they rang the lady's bell and then she pointed at a tree she wants chopping, possibly not knowing that this is not allowed. So I decided to challenge the tree man just to be sure because once chopped it will take years to grow back. I knew I might be making a bit of a fool of myself but thought it was worth it. I was polite to the man but he mumbled and walked away and said he had permission from the council. Seemed suspicious. I have rung the council and they are checking if he does have permission or not.

For anyone who is concerned about trees in Tufnell Park please see this clear and concise document on Islington Council's tree policy:

http://www.islington.gov.uk/DownloadableDocuments/Environment/Pdf/greenspace/tree_policy_2011.pdf

Please don't let them chop down the trees in our street.

The company is called "Tree Care" their flyers are A5 white, with green writing, and the numbers listed are 08081376007 and 07951700539.

Thank you

Lucy
