Time is running out for residents who want to comment on the future of trees
Haringey residents have just three weeks left to comment on the council's proposals for the future protection and improvement of its tree stock.
A draft Tree Strategy, published in May, outlines how the council will manage, maintain and enhance the 40,000 trees in streets, parks, woods and housing estates across the borough up to 2011.
The council is currently consulting residents on the plans and would like to hear as many views as possible ahead of the deadline on Monday 7 July.
The strategy particularly looks at how to increase community involvement in the management of the council's trees. Proposals include further developing the council's Tree Warden scheme and establishing a new community tree nursery.

Cllr Dhiren Basu. cabinet member for leisure, culture and lifelong learning, said: "Trees help create the character of our borough and greatly improve the appearance of our streets and open spaces.
"We are planting increasing numbers of new trees, but we want to ensure that this results in the greatest possible benefits for residents and Haringey's wider environment.
"We know there are many Haringey residents who are passionate about trees, and I hope they will give us their views on the draft strategy over the coming days," Cllr Basu went on to say.
