Youngsters must have oyster to travel

Posted by news desk in Other News, 5th June 2008, 10:54am

From this week, young people aged between 11 and 15 will have to have a 'Zip' Oyster photocard to use public transport.

Anyone between the ages of 11 and 15 who does not have an Oyster card or a Zip Oyster photocard will have to pay the full adult fare.

The move has been warmly welcomed by London TravelWatch, the watchdog for transport users in and around London.

London TravelWatch recommended compulsory Oyster cards to the former mayor, in the belief that it would make young people who behave anti-socially on public transport easier to trace.
